After leaving the farm tracks we entered an abandoned and much overgrown lime works
The 18th century limekilns at Craigend produced lime for agricultural use until the 1920s
Lunch was taken while sheltering from the strong wind on the North Third Reservoir dam
North Third Reservoir with Sauchie Craigs behind
Grangemouth Town Council constructed the reservoir by damming the Bannock Burn in 1911 to supply drinking water to Grangemouth. It is still in use today , managed by Scottish Water.
