Cnoc Coinnich from Coilessan Glen

Hills climbed: Cnoc Coinnich 764m.
Follow track up through Coilessan Glen and then on to open hillside for a steep ascent up grassy slope to summit. Return north west down the shoulder to join the Cowal Way back to the start.

Initially our walk was along well-maintained forestry access tracks
After leaving the forestry access track we followed an attractive path which crossed the Coilessan Burn several times
Once on the open hillside we soon entered the cloud which was sitting at about 500m
Various crags emerged through the cloud as we ascended

Lunch was taken in a pleasantly sheltered spot just above the small summit lochan
Our route back took us along the Cowal Way and we paused at the cairn marking the highest point on the Cowal Way
As we descended and rejoined the forestry access track the cloud lifted slightly allowing us to identify the hills to the east of Loch Long
