The cup marked stone and foxgloves.
This large rock is a glacial erratic deposited here 10,000 years ago by the ice age. Around 2,500 years ago early farmers, intrigued by the boulder spent a considerable amount of time gouging out cup markings on it. The rock has been broken into four pieces by an explosion – the consequence of a local builder hoping to procure stone for building. Obviously unsuccessful.
Sadly, the cup and ring marks are very hard to discern – evening sunlight providing the best opportunity.
