From Kidston Park we followed woodland paths through Duchess Wood and Ardencaple Wood to Highlandman’s Way. We left the Highlandman's Way and crossed fields to reach paths to Rhu Reservoirs. Beyond the reservoirs we continued the ascent following a burn up to the new forest road and through a tree tunnel to the summit of Tom na h-Airidh. From the summit we followed an old wall line through Drumfad, Ardencapel and Duchess Woods and back to Kidston Park.

After our morning teak break we descended alongside a tributary of Aldownick Glen before reaching the Rhu Reservoirs access track
