Crossing the River Lochy at the start of the walk presented no problems as there was very little water

We usually have several photographs taken during the ascent of a hill but clouds of midges and mosquitos, like this one, deterred all but our most enthusiastic photographers from stopping

The initial descent from Ben Lui involved crossing several large rocks

We could see our next hill, Beinn a' Chleibh, not too far away with Loch Awe beyond

We rested here as there were mercifully few midges – just non-biting flies
