The castle dates back to the 13th century and is one of Scotland's oldest stone castles.

Clach a’ Choin or Fingal’s Dog Stone
This is either a conglomerate sea stack, eroded by waves and weather before being raised above sea-level by post-glacial rebound, or, according to Celtic legend, where Fingal, the heroic hunter, would tie his mighty hound, Bran.
