After leaving Dalreoch we climbed to the Renton trig. point on Carman Muir

The well adjacent to the old route from Renton to Cardross via Carman Cottage
Very little appears to be known about this well although it is shown on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey map dated 1860.
Our next point of interest was Carman Reservoir
This natural loch was enlarged in 1886 to provide a water supply to Renton. Now disused as a water supply the reservoir provides recreation for walkers and anglers. It is stocked with Rainbow Trout and has a natural population of Brown Trout.
We had lunch while sitting beside the reservoir
Our next destination was the Iron age fort on Carman Hill from where we had this view west of the Clyde estuary

Our second trig. point and final hill was Bromley Muir.

The view from Bromley Muir was spectacular with Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond dominating the scene
