We had our morning break at Milton of Campsie station on the cycle path from Kirkintilloch to Strathblane.
The station was opened in 1848 on the Campsie branch of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway and closed in 1951 although goods facilities were retained until 1966. Originally called Miltown it was renamed Milton in1874 and Milton of Campsie in 1912. The railway passed into the ownership of North British Railway in 1865 before becoming part of the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and finally British Railways in 1948.
