We began with an unwelcome 350-meter ascent until we reached the plateau.
The Crow Road car park can be seen far below to the right of the walkers
The effort was worth it when we reached the triangulation pillar on Cort-ma Law
We stopped for lunch after a short descent where we had a view south over Miton of Campsie to Kirkintilloch
Looking southwest we could see Lennoxtown
We started our descent to Lennoxtown along a grassy gently sloping track which soon became much steeper – but at least we were going down
Back on the valley floor and we followed the old railway track back to Clachan of Campsie
This was the Blane Valley Railway, an extension of the Campsie Branch of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway. It opened in 1867 and closed, to passengers, in 1951.
We usually finish our walks with coffee and cake and this walk was no exception but sitting outside in the sun was an unexpected bonus
