A view of Stirling, the Wallace Monument and the cloud covered Ochils as we climbed the escarpment above Gargunnock
The summit plateau was below the cloud base but the tops of the wind turbines were in the cloud
After passing the wind turbines we could see the two Earlsburn Reservoirs.
These reservoirs had been visited on an earlier walk (15th April 2023)
We had lunch on Carleatheran but unfortunately the weather closed in and we were sitting in the cold damp cloud
We returned along the edge of the escarpment looking down on Gargunnock
The Saltaire has been flying above Gargunnock for many years
Downie’s Loup
Legend has it that the waterfall is named after a gentleman called Downie who tried to jump the falls on horseback. His third attempt was fatal but the fate of his horse is not known
Our final descent to Gargunnock was down a pleasant grassy track although there were some steep rocky sections as we crossed successive lava flows
