After climbing steeply from the car park we reached a pleasant high-level path from which Ben Venue was visible above an expanse of bracken

Our morning coffee break was taken beside a burn crossing, which was thankfully midge free

We continued along the Great Trossachs Path until it led down to the road

Crossing the bridge before walking along a minor, but fairly busy, road along the other side of the loch

Lunch was at the very popular picnic area along the minor road.
(It was such a beautiful day a couple of us decided to cool our feet in the loch)

Points of interest along the lochside included this impressive mature weeping birch tree

We joined an attractive forest path which eventually led back towards the start of the circuit.
(The trees provided some shade from the afternoon sun but it was still very hot)

Our final break was taken at Achray Farm where we enjoyed some delicious home-made ice cream before returning to the car park
