Our route on The Cobbler avoided the ‘zig-zags’ but involved an overgrown, boggy fire break

Once clear of the forest the view opened up as we climbed towards The Cobbler’s SE ridge
(Here we are looking over Arrochar to Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond)

Contemplating the final 200m ascent to the summit

The cloud cleared while we were on the summit allowing us this view of the true summit of The Cobbler
(None of our party opted to ‘thread the needle’ and stand on this summit – reflecting the wisdom that comes with age)

Initially the summit was clear but the cloud descended while we had lunch and our descent was made in cloud

We avoided the ‘zig-zags’ on our descent and had a clear path through coniferous woodland
