After a short walk along the promenade we passed Douglas Park

Douglas Park was established in1906 as a generous gift from Mr. C. J. C. Douglas a local Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant. After the first world war he donated more land as thanksgiving for the safe return of his son.

We had our morning tea break at the Castle Hill viewpoint overlooking Great Cumbrae and Arran

The views across to Bute and the mountains of Argyll were spectacular as we continued a steady climb towards Jock’s Castle

Lunch time and a well-earned rest at Jock’s Castle

With most of the climbing behind us we continued towards Rigging Hill

Knockside Hill and Irish Law dominate the view ahead

The highest point on today’s walk and time for a summit photograph on Rigging Hill

A gentle stroll down a good track took us to our afternoon tea break at Greeto Bridge

Our afternoon break was taken adjacent to the Gogo Water at Greeto Bridge
