Soon after leaving Dumbarton we had this view of the Lang Craigs
Initially we followed the east bank of the River Leven towards the Dumbarton Bypass bridge
Later we walked along farm tracks which were muddy but easy to follow
Limited shelter for our morning tea break was found in the ruins of Ardochbeg although very little remained of the buildings
The middle section of the walk was through pastoral landscapes with wide open vistas and grazing sheep – and muddy fields
We opted not to have a lunch break as planned when we joined the Kipperoch Road but followed it to Cardross where some of us had a welcome cup of coffee
