An hour after setting off and having covered 4 km, we reached Glen Finglas Reservoir and could see Meall Cala ahead. Today’s walk circumnavigated this hill.

We passed the junction to which we would later return after completing our circuit of Meall Cala and continued our steady climb.

We headed upwards - steadily but never steeply - and paused for a brief tea break after walking for two hours.

The route carried us north up Gleann nam Meann before crossing over into Glen Finglas.

We continued climbing and entered thin cloud just before reaching the small cairn marking the highest point of the walk at 593 m, where the group posed for their photograph.

As we descended below the cloud, Glen Finglas and our onward route opened up below us.

The return to Brig o’ Turk was straightforward, although we did encounter livestock blocking the path. Fortunately, they were very docile and ignored us completely.
